student film camp

The aim of the programme is production of short documentaries
and is intended for students of film academies.

Fifteen participants – students of film production, directing, cinematography, sound design and editing from different parts of the world, are divided into three multinational crews and, during their seventeen-day stay in Western Serbia, make three creative short documentaries on a given topic.

We have been realising this programme since 2006, with the aim to promote short documentary film among young people – students of film academies, as well as to encourage their networking and exchange of knowledge and experience through work in multinational crews.

In addition to participating in production of their films during their stay at the camp, participants of Interaction: Student Film Camp (I: SFC) have the opportunity to meet and connect with participants in other Interaction programmes (Interaction: Doc Workshop – I: DW and Interaction: Short Docs Festival – I: SDF) through participation in joint programmes: Speed Meeting – short twenty-minute talks and Panel – gathering of documentarians in discussions and exchange of views on topics of importance to the profession, as well as authors and producers of documentary films. During their stay at the camp, all participants have the opportunity to attend festival screenings (I: SDF) and engage in conversations with filmmakers.

Also, in order to engage our participants in networking in the best possible way, we pay special attention to pastime activities.

During the sixteen-year realisation of the camp, more than 260 participants from over 60 countries, i.e., students of more than 100 film academies have participated in the programme. 53 documentaries have been made and over 20 awards won at film festivals around the world. A special success was achieved by the film Valley of the Rulers (directed by Efim Graboy), which was nominated for the best short documentary film by the prestigious International Documentary Association (IDA) in 2019.

Upon completion of the programme, participants will be awarded certificates of participation.

Participation in the programme I: SFC is free of charge.
