Shiladitya Bora

An alumnus of Berlinale Talents, Shiladitya Bora has been associated with all aspects of films and filmmaking, from production, marketing, release and distribution to commissioning of projects for past ten years. He set up PVR Director’s Rare, the limited release arm of PVR Cinemas group, India’s biggest exhibitor, and successfully released more than 85 films. As the founding CEO of Drishyam Films, he is also largely responsible for building India’s most successful Independent film studio. During his tenure at Drishyam, he produced films many of which went on to win awards at major film festivals such as Newton (Berlin), Masaan (Cannes), and Dhanak (Berlin) to name a few. A passionate filmbuff, Bora, started his professional career setting up an international film festival in Ahmedabad and running a boutique film club. He was selected for Berlinale Talents in the year 2015, and his project Minefield was one of the selected 22 projects of Film Bazaar, NFDC co-production market 2014 in Goa. Shiladitya has been researching on this project since the year 2014. He finally moved on from Drishyam last year to fully focus on his directorial venture MINEFIELD.

Carla Rosmino

Was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1988. She started film studies at the FUC, Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires where I got my degree in Film Direction (2013). During her study she worked in several commercial production companies, where she filled a wide range of positions, from pre-production to the actual core of shooting as assistant director and/or production. She was working as Assistant producer with Gema Juarez Allen at GEMA FILMS, a small production company established in (Buenos Aires 2015) as feature film and creative documentary production company, with a special focus on art-house movies. She has attended several workshops such as those directed by Guillermo Ueno, Lorena Fernández, among others. She is currently developing a documentary photography project with my family’s visual archives.

Alexandra Verykokou




She has earned an MA Honours in Politics and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Western Macedonia, Greece, Florina. She has worked in humanitarian and political organizations, the printed press and she writes articles for magazines. Her poetry book was published in 2015 ("Feeding the Dog", Gavrilides Editions, 2015). Her poems and short stories have been published in several literary magazines (Neo Epipedo, Emvolimon, Porfyras, Sisyfos, Avgi newspaper etc.). She has written and directed a short film ("St Foteinis 14", 2012) and participated in Drama Pitching Lab 2016 with the short film project “The Weaver” (in development). She works as assistant director in the TV series “Ancient Drama” which is in its second season and currently broadcasted on Greek National Television (ERT – 18 one hour episodes) and also in the feature film “Memory Reloaded”. She also teaches Creative Writing in schools in Athens.

She attended the Berlinale Talent Campus as a director/cinematographer in 2006. Her early works as a student director were shown in various film festivals such as: the 19th Singapore International Film Festival, the 5th Beijing Student Film Festival, and the VIP New York Film Festival. Her thesis film, “Sakdal Laya” was the country’s official entry in the 34th Student Film Academy Awards.

Nick Olanka

Nick Olanka graduated from the University of the Philippines Film Institute in 2006. Immediately after graduation he made his first full length film “Ang Huling Araw ng Linggo” (“The Last Day”). Active in theatre through the group The UP Repertory Company, he directed for the Cultural Center of the Philippines Virgin LabFest for three consecutive years. Virgin Labfest is a prestigious theater event in the Philippines where new, radical and untested theatrical materials are staged. He also attended workshops in Mowelfund Film Institute. He is trained under award winning film director Marilou Diaz-Abaya. For Star Cinema, he directed an omnibus horror film entitled “Cinco.” He also worked as creative consultant for Star Cinema. For ABS-CBN he co-directed “E-boy” and “Apoy sa Dagat.” He also had directorial stints for television shows like “Magkaribal,” and “Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto.” In 2009, he wrote the screenplay for Adolf Alix’s film “Adela.” From 2009 to present he is part of the director’s pool for the weekly drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (“Remember When”) and “Ipaglaban Mo” (“Fight for It”). His recent film “Ronda” (“Patrol”) is part of the 10th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. The film is also screened in film festivals in Denmark, Canada, USA, Singapore, India and Russia.

Debbie Onuoha

She is a Ghanaian-Nigerian with a passion for words and moving images. Like her last name “Onuoha” which translates in English as “the mouth of the people,” she is passionate about using documentary to bring stories from her home countries—Ghana and Nigeria—to rest of the world. Debbie is currently a student at DocNomads—a mobile film school, alternating between Portugal, Hungary and Belgium—where she is midway through an MA in Documentary Film Directing. Before deciding to follow her passion for the cinematic arts last year, she trained as a social scientist at Harvard University (BA) and the University of Cambridge (MPhil).

Arnold Fernandes

Post completing his cinematography course at SRFTI he still had a lot of work to do to develop on many aspects of my cinematography. In 2016, he works as B Unit Camera Operator under the guidance of Manoj Lobo (Cinematographer ISC) on Banjo - A Bollywood Feature Film produced by Eros international. During that time he also assisted on two International documentary projects. The first being BBC's documentary on Indian Railways where he was handed the responsibility of being First AC on the Mumbai schedule co-produced by Backpack Films. It’s a four year bachelors program and I am in my final year, working on my thesis nowadays. My journey had started as a writer which I personally am very passionate about. I write fiction as well as poetry. I try to explore every aspect of film-making that’s why I can’t say that I want to be a great documentary filmmaker. I just want to learn the art and enjoy while doing so.

After high-school she went straight to Tartu University where in 2011 she achieved a bachelor's degree in literature and theatre-studies. In April 2012 she made a decision to move to Berlin. It was the first time that I thought of the possibility of studying documentary and found the Documentary Film course program at Baltic Film and Media School in Tallinn, Estonia. In autumn 2013 she moved to Scotland, Edinburgh. In 2015 she moved officially back to Tallinn but still continued travelling. Started her Master's studies at Baltic Film and Media School in September, 2016. Her biggest personal project thus far had been a memoir „Midagi igavest pole olemas” ("Nothing is Eternal") by Asta Salumaa which she edited, designed and published in 2015.

Sebastian Peña Escobar (Asunción, 1973). Producer, writer & independent researcher. 
Studied Economics and got an MBA from The University of Kansas.
Since 2002 he developed and produced magazines, books and audiovisual content for his editorial house. Since 2007, co-organizes the Photography Month in Paraguay. He has published essays on cultural theory, prose, poetry and articles in local magazines.
 Participated in Torino Film Lab (Framework) in 2015.

He is an independent filmmaker and currently a student in Direction and screenplay writing at K. R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA), a Film school under the Government of Kerala, India. He graduated in Mass Communication and Video Production from Mar Ivanios College (Kerala University) in 2006-2009. As part of this Graduation course he worked as a cinematographer for a short experimental documentary titled ‘Bhranthante Kaalpaadukal’. After that he attended a one-year P G Diploma course in Photography from Jamia Millia Islamia, Central University, New Delhi. Before Joining KRNNIVSA I attended a Two-week workshop on Digital Film-making from L L V Prasad Film and Television Academy, Thiruvananthapuram in 2015. As part of this workshop he wrote and co-directed a Short film ‘Madakkam’ along with two other team-members.
