Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival selection jury decided to
include “Back portrait” into the competition programme of this year’s
festival. The film, which was shot in Cacak during the last “Interaction”,
is going to be screened in experimental film category. The festival is going
to take place in Belgrade, from 30 March to 3 April 2010.

There was the screening of the
films that were made during 4th International Student Film Camp
“Interaction 2009” in Pozega, with the aim of promoting the activities and
results of camp. During the evening, the partners and sponsors of the camp
as well as all the people in Pozega who made 4th “Interaction”
happen were presented with certificates of appreciation.

The people and institutions that
helped this year’s camp be carried out were given the certificates of
appreciation at the Red Cross Organization in Uzice. The films made during
the camp were screened after all the certificates had been handed out.

"Back portrait", the film produced by Filmart from Pozega within 4th
International Student Documentary Film Camp "Interaction 2009", was screened
at 3rd KRAF (Kragujevac Review of Antiwar and Engaged Films) on 25 October.
The festival is opened by an author from Kragujevac every year. Vojin
Vasovic, the film director, was born in Kragujevac which gave the reasons
for the discussion on topic "Are films in Kragujevac coming to light?" which
started after the screening. A short "Interaction" presentation was done
before "Back portrait" was screened.

The Independent Film Centre “Filmart” organized the screening
of the films made during 4th “Interaction” at the Cultural Centre
in Cacak on Wednesday, 7 October.
Milen Alempijevic, film programme manager and PR of the Cultural Centre held
the opening speech at the best-attended screening so far and emphasized both
the importance of “Interaction” in terms of culture in this area, as well as
their great cooperation with some institutions in Cacak such as institutions
of culture and the Cultural Centre in Cacak.
Predrag Zivkovic, executive producer of the camp addressed the audience
afterwards. He expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors and partners in
this area, especially the people from Cacak who proved themselves to be very
hospitable four years in a row and tolerant to the demanding Cacak crew this
year. Jelena Cuslovic, a member of the “Interaction” team and Predrag
Zivkovic handed out certificates of appreciation to all the sponsors,
partners and participants who are from Cacak.
More than 500 people who were present at the screening enjoyed watching
“Polyphony”, “Coloring the fog”, “Back portrait” and “Mile and Nale”.

The presentation of the films that were made during this year's student film
camp "Interaction 2009" was held on 26 September at the Cultural Centre Dom
Omladine in Kragujevac. In fact, there were two presentations at 6 and 7pm
since the audience was numerous. They were able to see the four Interaction
films as well as the film which is about the camp itself based on the
impressions of 20 participants from 14 different countries.

The film camp was
officially closed when the films were screened at the Belgrade Cultural
Centre on Thursday, 20 August. Nebojsa Popovic, manager of the film
programme at the Cultural Centre, welcomed the audience on behalf of the
Centre.
Dejan Petrovic, manager of the Independent Film Centre “Filmart” introduced
the participants of 4th “Interaction” and handed them out the
certificates of participation. All four documentaries that were made during
4th International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2009” were
screened during the evening.
The screening in Belgrade was attended by Predrag Tojic - State Secretary of
the Ministry for Diaspora, Milica J. Kuzmanovic - M.A. professor and
Head of
Department for contemporary creative and cultural industries,
Mr. Dante Coelho

There was the
premiere of the films made during this year’s “Interaction” on Wednesday, 19
August which announced the end of stage 2 of 4th International
Student Film Camp “Interaction 2009”. The audience at the Pozega Cultural
Centre saw “Polyphony”, “Coloring the fog”, “Back portrait” and
“Mile and Nale”.
The participants of 4th “Interaction” visited the Ovcar-Kablar
Gorge on their way to Belgrade on 20 August. The people who work at the
Tourist organization of Cacak showed them the monasteries in this area and
organized the Morava River rafting trip.

The opening
ceremony of the camp was held on International Youth Day, 12 August,
beginning at 9pm, at the Pozega Cultural Centre, Movie Theatre. The
participants and the people present were first addressed by the Minister of
Culture of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Bradic, State Secretary of the
Ministry for Diaspora Predrag Tojic Prim. D., the eminent Serbian film
director Emir Kusturica, Pozega Mayor Milovan Micovic and finally General
Manager of IFC “Filmart” Dejan Petrovic.
Mrs. Amira Arifovic-Harms - Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Shri Saikat Sen
Sharma - Second Secretary and Head of Chancery (Embassy of India), Mrs.
Rujiza Mara Andreyevich - Minister Counselor (Embassy of Brazil), Mr.
Amir-Ali Javadian - Deputy Director of the Iranian Cultural Centre, Their
Majesties Prince Vladimir Karadjordjevic and Princess Brigit Muler and the
representatives of the neighboring towns (Uzice, Cacak and Arilje) also
attended the opening. After the ceremony, the audience watched “Helium” – a
film made during 4th ISFC “Interaction 08” (it won the Best
Experimental Film Award at 56th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film
Festival). There was a cocktail party when the screening was over.
“Intertent” programme: there were presentations of the “International Youth
Day” and “Interaction 08” programmes held at Liberty Square at 6pm in the
centre of Pozega.

After they shot
the material for their films in Uzice, Cacak, Pozega and Guca, the
participants came to Pozega where they are going to edit them from 11 to 19
August. Together with film production, the main activity of the camp, the
following programmes are also going to be carried out: “Intertent”,
“Interscreen”, a photo exhibition, a music concert and free time activities
(day trips, etc).

After the participants of 4th International Student Film Camp
“Interaction 2009” arrived in Belgrade on 4th August there was an
introductory workshop at the Belgrade Cultural Centre.
20 students of production, directing, cinematography, sound design and
editing from 14 countries (Russia, Canada, Romania, Germany, France, Great
Britain, Brazil, Sweden, Estonia, India, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Iran and Serbia) were informed on the goals, activities and dynamics of the
camp.
Sladjana Varagic – programme coordinator, Predrag Zivkovic – executive
producer of the camp and Dejan Petrovic – general manager of the IFC
“Filmart” spoke about the project. Jelena Cuslovic acted as the workshop
moderator.
After the first session of the workshop was over, M.A. professor Dragan
Elcic
lectured on
“Author documentary film” and then gave some advice to the participants.
Dragan Elcic, the film directing supervisor, is going to take part in film
production stage by advising them what to do when investigating the area,
searching for the topic, editing and during the postproduction stage. There
was another workshop “Sound in documentary film” held by professor Nikola
Cvijanovic.
When the lectures
were finished, the participants set off for Cacak, Pozega, Guca and Uzice
where they will stay from 5th to 10th of August and
divided into 4 crews shoot the material for their films on the theme
“Tolerance of differences”. During this day, on 5th August, the
participants met their local guides and investigated the areas searching for
the topic and ideas for their films. |

There was a press conference at the
Municipality of Pozega on 3rd August which started at noon. The
press conference was held in order to announce the beginning of 4th
International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2009”.
Dejan Petrovic - general manager of the
IFC “Filmart”, Milovan Micovic – Pozega Mayor, Goran Simovic – Pozega Deputy
Mayor and Predrag Zivkovic – executive producer of the “Interaction” film
camp spoke to the journalists from Pozega, Uzice and Cacak that were at the
press conference. Sladjana Vasiljevic moderated the conference.
The media representatives were presented
with this year’s project as well as with its stages: film production,
accompanying programmes “Interscreen” and “Intertent”, exhibitions and
concerts. They were also informed about the arrival of 20 participants of
the camp – students at film schools in 14 different countries and their
participation in production of 4 documentary films on the theme “Tolerance
of differences”. The films will be shot in municipalities of Cacak, Uzice,
Guca and Pozega.
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic
of Serbia and the Ministry for Diaspora of the Republic of Serbia support
the “Interaction 2009” film camp like in previous years, but this year the
project is supported by the Municipality of Pozega for the first time. The
Municipality of Pozega representatives emphasized the importance of this
project being carried out in Pozega and all the potentials it has for
promoting Pozega in terms of culture, economy and tourism. Multiculturalism,
culture decentralization and promoting cultural and historical sites in
Serbia are some of the “Interaction” film camp goals and at the same time
the main reasons why the Municipality of Pozega decided to support this
project. |

“Interaction” was presented at the press conference held at the Ministry of
Culture in Belgrade
There was a press conference at the
Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia on Tuesday, 21st
July. All the activities that are planned to take place during this summer
and that are supported by the Ministry of Culture were presented at the
conference. First Nebojsa Bradic, Minister of Culture presented the
importance and significance of the cultural activities supported by the
Ministry of Culture and then the most important ones which are planned to
take place in Serbia in July and August were presented to the audience –
Acting achievements festival “Film encounters” (Nis, 22-31 August), Festival
of film scenario (Vrnjacka Banja, 8-12 August), BELEF (Belgrade, 2-31 July),
Nisvil festival (Nis, 13-16 July) and International Student Film Festival
“Interaction” (Pozega, 4-21 August). Dejan Petrovic, general manager of the
IFC “Filmart” spoke about this year’s “Interaction” pointing out that this
project is “Filmart’s” contribution to the process of decentralizing culture
in Serbia. Mr Petrovic also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture
for supporting “Interaction” since its very beginning. |

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM CAMP “INTERACTION 2009”
4th
International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2009” which is organized by the
Independent Film Centre “Filmart” and supported by the Ministry of Culture
of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry for Diaspora of the Republic of
Serbia and the Municipality of Pozega is going to be held from 4th
to 21st August 2009.
After three years of
the project having been carried out on Zlatibor Mountain this year’s
“Interaction” is going to take place in Pozega for the first time.
20 students of production, directing, cinematography,
sound design and editing from 14 countries (India, Estonia, Canada, Germany,
France, Romania, Lithuania, Brazil, Russia, Great Britain, Sweden, Iran,
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia) divided into 4 crews are going to make 4
documentaries, inspired by the countryside and people from Pozega, Uzice,
Cacak and Guca.
The theme of this
year’s camp is “Tolerance of differences”.
Film production, as the main activity of the camp is going to be accompanied
by “Intertent” and “Interscreen” programmes.
In cooperation with
the embassies and cultural centres of the participating countries, the
cultures of the countries which have their representatives in the camp will
be presented through music, dance, poetry, cuisine, etc. at Liberty Square
in the centre of Pozega.
The films made by
this year’s participants and those produced at Serbian film academies as
well as CILECT selection of the best student films are going to be screened
within “Intercreen” programme at the Pozega Cultural Centre Movie Theatre (CILECT
- International Association of Film and Television Schools).
Day trips to Mokra
Gora, Sirogojno and the Ovcar-Kablar Gorge will help the participants to get
to know natural and cultural potentials as well as the lovely countryside of
Western Serbia during their stay there.
The films made during
the camp are going to be screened at the closing ceremony in Pozega on 19th
August and a day later at the Belgrade Cultural Centre. The films are also
going to be screened at Serbian and foreign film academies, towns which
support the project and cultural centres in diaspora. The best films made
during the camp is going to be sent to film festivals all around the world,
like “Helium” (the film made during 3rd “Interaction”) which
won the Best Experimental Film Award at 56th Belgrade
Documentary and Short Film Festival.

“Helium” at Cinema City Film Festival
Film “Helium” is going to be screened at the Cinema City
International Film and Media Festival that is going to be held in Novi Sad,
Serbia, from 7th to 13th June. Dejan Zecevic who
selected the films for the festival decided that the competition selection
“Up to 10,000 bucks” encompasses “Helium”, as well. This film selection
includes 34 films made in Serbia and abroad. “Helium” is going to be
screened at the Youth Theatre (Small Hall) on Saturday 13th June,
at 10.30 pm.

Film “Helium” is going to be screened at the Avalon Theatre in
Washington on Wednesday 3rd June, at 8 pm within the Serbian
Contemporary Short and Documentary Film Festival. Presentation of Serbian

Film “-HE- Helium” at
film festivals in Serbia and abroad
“-HE- Helium”, the film that was made during 3rd International
Student Film Festival “Interaction – Zlatibor 2008”, is in the official
competition programme of
56th
Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival that
takes place in Belgrade, Serbia. The film is in the national experimental
programme of the festival and is going to be screened at the Belgrade
Cultural Centre, on 2nd April at 5 pm.
The film is also going to be screened on 29th March within the
official programme of
The London
Internatonal Documentary Festival. This year’s
festival is going to be held from 27th to 4th April in
London, UK.
“-HE- Helium”, the best film made during 3rd “Interaction”, is
going to be screened within the competition programme of
6th International
Madrid Documentary Festival “Documenta Madrid“.
The Festival is going to be held from 1st to 10th May
in Madrid.

“Interaction” in Berlin

At 59th
Berlin International Film Festival that was organized from 5th
to 15th February this year, Film Centre Serbia presented some
films, projects and Serbian talents. Film lovers had a chance to see a presentation of the International Student Film Camp “Interaction – Zlatibor” at one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. By
presenting “Interaction” within Berlin Film Festival, the Independent Film
Centre is announcing its promotional activities as well as the opening of
the competition for taking part in 4th International Student Film
Camp “Interaction – Zlatibor 09”. The competition is going to be open from 1st
March to 15th April 2009 and the students of production,
directing, cinematography, editing and sound recording and design at film
academies in Serbia and abroad are invited to apply.
