DOCUMENTARY „BARKA“ (Kralja Petra 33) WON A PRIZE IN INDIA


 

Documentary film „Barka“ (Kralja Petra 33), directed by Aleksandr Ratij during the 8th International student film camp „Interaction“ won a second prize in the category of documentary film on the 2nd Smita Patil Documentary & Short Film Festival in India.

 

Festival, during which 30 documentaries and short feature films were shown, was held in the city of Pune, from the 27th to the 29th of December 2013.

 

Documentary „Barka“ (Kralja Petra 33) is a story about a barbershop in Pozega in which time has stopped, in which nothing has changed for decades. A question of what makes citizens of Pozega drawn to this barbershop, which is located on the most frequent crossroad in town, is raised through the film.

 

 

The film was shot in the production of the Independent film centre „Filmart“ from Pozega, and the crew, besides the director from Ukraine, consists of students from film academies from Russia (Natalija Ivanova), India (Eeshit Narain), Romania (Paola Onet), and Serbia (Nina Latinović).

ON THE OCCASION OF THE INTERNATIONAL TOLERANCE DAY FILMS FROM INTERACTION WERE SHOWN IN PALACE OF SERBIA


On Friday, 15th of November 2013. at 12 a.m. a projection of chosen films shot during the International Student Film Camp „Interaction“ was organised on the request of the Office for Human and Minority Rights of the Republic of Serbia in the Palace of Serbia.

 

The program of chosen films shot during the Camp was shown within the workshop named: „Towards to International tolerance day“, witch was organised for the interns-members of national minorities in state institutions in Serbia, and on the occasion of observance of the International tolerance day.


On this occasion the following documentaries were shown: „Back portrait“, „Coffee & cigarettes“, „Endless rhythm“ and „Bitter joke“.

 

Borjana Peruničić, the assistant director of the Office of human and minority rights, informed the participants about the UN documentaries related to the topic of human rights and tolerance, and also about the activities that are conducted by the Office in order to improve and protect human rights, while Dejan Petrović, the general manager of IFC „Filmart“ spoke about the camp and film as a mean of promoting tolerance and human rights.

SLAĐANA PETROVIĆ VARAGIĆ AND DEJAN PETROVIC LAUREATES OF THIS YEAR'S “TORI JANKOVIĆ” AWARD WHICH IS AWARDED FOR DECENTRALISATION OF FILM ART IN SERBIA


During the 7th Festival of Anti-war and Engaged Film in Kragujevac (KRAF), by a decision of the jury of the Festival, Sladjana Petrovic Varagic and Dejan Petrovic have been awarded with a „Tori Jankovic“ award, for the decenralisation of film art in Serbia.

 

“Tori Janković” award, which is named after the author of the first fiction film shot in Kragujevac, was awarded for the third year in a row, and laureates in the past years had been the professor of the Academy in Novi Sad, Milan Nikodijevic, the director of the Festival of screenplay in Vrnjacka Banja (for the year 2012) and the affirmed director Zelimir Zilnik (for the year 2011).

 

The 7th edition of the KRAF, organised by Millenium, was held from the 28th of October to the 3rd of November in Kragujevac, and during the festival 25 films and 10 public debates were held in the Student Cultural Centre and Youth Centre of Kragujevac.

“INTERACTION 2013” CAMP WAS ANNOUNCED AT THE XXVII FILM FESTIVAL IN HERCEG NOVI


On Sunday, the 4th of August, 2013. on the occasion of participation of the film “Buro” on the 27th Film festival in Herceg Novi, Dejan Petrovic, the director of Independent film center “Filmart” spoke about the film, introduced the International student film camp “Interaction”, but also announced the holding of this years’ camp on the press conference.


 

The film “Buro” was filmed during last years’ “Interaction” and after participating on various film festivals, domestic and international, it was shown in the documentary competition program of the 27th film festival in Herceg Novi on Saturday, the 3rd of August. “Film Buro, as well as the other films shot during the camp, and shown worldwide on film festivals, are the result of strong energy of young creative people- the students of film academies from all over the world who, during the camp, come to Serbia and film documentaries during their three-week visit, but also send affirmative images of Serbia into the world” Dejan Petrovic stated.


This years’ 8th International student film camp “Interaction” sponsored by Ministry of Culture and Informating, municipalities of Pozega and Gornji Milanovac, city of Cacak and Erste bank will be held from the 14th until the 31st of August in the western part of Serbia.


During the camp, 15 participants, students of film academies from various parts of the world will be divided into three crews and film three documentary films in Gornji Milanovac, Cacak and Pozega on the subject “Res, non verba!” (Deeds, not words!”).


   

After a seven-day shooting of the material for the films, all participants will gather in Pozega, where they will edit the documentaries until the end of the camp. An International master class of documentary film “Interdoc 2013” will be implemented simultaneously with the editing of the films, and it will gather 9 participants” Petrovic added. The master class seeks to provide new possibilities for acquiring practical and theoretical knowledge of young film authors in the field of Creative documentary film. Lecturers of this years’ master class are renowned professors and directors of documentary film- Zelimir Zilnik and mr Dragan Elcic.


Speaking about the camp, Petrovic pointed out the importance of the supporting programs which are intended for participants of the camp and the master class but also the local community, young people primarily: “Within the “Interface” program the participants will present the culture of the countries they came from, and the “Interscreen” program includes the projections of student films, but also those of affirmed authors”. Films of participants, a selection of documentary films by Dragan Elcic, film “Pirika” by Zelimir Zilnik, a selection of awarded films from the 60th Belgrade festival of documentary and short film, and student films awarded with a CILECT PRIZE 2012. will be shown within the “Interscreen”.


In their free time, the participants will interact with each other through music and sport activities, but will also have a chance to learn about the  cultural heritage of our county during the visit to Ovacrsko-kablar gorge”.


The premiere of the films shot during the camp will be held on August, 29th at the Cultural Centre of Pozega, and the day after that in the Cultural Centre of Belgrade.

THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION

The selection of the candidates for the participation in this year’s Camp is in progress. The list will be published no later than 22nd of May 2013 instead of 15th of May, as announced earlier.

APPLICATION PERIOD FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM CAMP “INTERACTION 2013” IS OVER


The application period for participation in the  8th International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2013”, during which 140 applications from 45 different film academies have arrived, is over.

The selection jury will consider the applications, select the candidates and list the names of the participants.  The students chosen to take part in this year’s camp will be informed by e-mail no later than 15th of May 2013.

Applying for participation on the International Documentary Masterclass "Interdoc 2013" is still alowed, and the aplication deadline is 10th of June 2013. The master class will be held from the 22th to 31st of August 2013 in Pozega (Serbia), and the lecturers will be  renowned professors and directors of documentary films-  Dragan Elcic MA and Zelimir Zilnik, the winner of the „Golden bear“at the Berlin International Film Festival (for the film “Early works” in 1969).

TWO FILMS FROM “INTERACTION” WILL BE SCREENED IN A COMPETITIVE PROGRAMME OF THE 60th JUBILEE OF BELGRADE DOCUMENTARY AND SHORT FILM FESTIVAL


Independent Film Centre „Filmart“ from Pozega is going to present two documentary films from the 7th International Student Film Camp „Interaction“ in a competitive programme of the 60th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival.

Films „Buro“ (Jakub Paczek) and „My lips, your nose“ (Olga Korotkaya) will be screened on Thursday, April 4 at 5pm at  Cultural Center Dom omladine Belgrade.

   

The 60th jubilee of Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival is going to be held from 2nd to 6th April at Cultural Center Dom omladine Belgrade, Cultural Centre of Belgrade movie theatre and at the cinema „Fontana“. In addition to the films „Buro“ and „My lips, your nose“, there will be six documentaries in a national competitive programme of the festival.

48 foreign and 35 domestic films will be competing for festival awards in four categories: documentary, short, animated and experimental film. In addition to the competitive programme, the films will be screened during the accompanying programme of the festival.

 

This year’s winner for Lifetime Achievement Award at Belgrade documentary and short film festival is Zelimir Zilnik, one of the most influential and award-winning national authors, world-renowned for his artistic and social engagement. Organized by Filmart, professor Zilnik will be giving workshops during International documentary masterclass „Interdoc“ that is going to be held at the same time as „Interaction“.

CALL FOR SUBMISSION

8th International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2013” organized by the Independent Film Centre “Filmart” is going to be held from 14th to 31st August 2013 in Pozega (Serbia). 20 students of film production, directing, cinematography, sound design and editing from all over the world, divided into 4 crews, are going to make 4 documentaries on the theme “Res, non verba !” (Deeds, not words!).

 

The organizer provides:

  • board and lodging for the participant
  • equipment and materials for film production
  • transport Belgrade - Pozega - Belgrade

 

Student / participant pays for:

  • getting a visa (if they need one to enter Serbia)
  • transport (to Belgrade and back)
  • international travel health insurance

 

Competition eligibility

Your application will be taken into consideration if you:

  • study film production, directing, cinematography, sound design or editing
  • have taken part in production of at least one documentary film
  • speak English fluently
  • complete and submit the online application form
  • upload a film (participated in its production during your studies) on some of the online services (youtube, vimeo) and place the link in your online application form

 

Applying for the competition

To apply for this competition you should complete and submit the online application form. The film should be uploaded on some of the online services (youtube, vimeo) and its link should be visible in the online application form.

 

The film must be:

  • documentary or short feature film
  • translated into English
  • made during your studies
