THE PREMIERE OF A PILOT SHOW „NA SOPSTVENI POGON“ (SELF-PROPELLED), PRODUCED BY INDEPENDENT FILM CENTRE „FILMART“
– WEDNESDAY, 6 FEBRUARY AT 6PM/ CULTURAL CENTRE GRAD IN BELGRADE


A documentary television pilot “Na sopstveni pogon” produced by Independent film centre “Filmart”, will have its premiere on Wednesday February 6 at 6pm at the Cultural centre Grad in Belgrade.

   

The 24-minute documentary TV show was shot in the period of 2012 within the project of “ the Association of Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia” supported by a Swiss cultural programme in the Western Balkans, and through the project “ Places for culture 2” supported by Fund for an Open Society.

TV show presents the aims, activities and active participants of the Association of Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia. ICCS was founded in 2011 and has 77 members including Independent film centre ”Filmart”. The Association of Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia is the biggest network of associations of citizens, non-formal groups of artists and initiatives that operate within a non-institutional cultural scene in Serbia.

 

   

The promotion of the first issue of an independent cultural magazine – MANEK will be on the same night and it will be published in the form of fanzine with the aim of improving the visibility of independent culture and art and affirming its significance in a contemporary society.


The readers of the first edition of MANEK have a possibility to learn more about the chosen activities of the members of the Association of Independent Cultural Scene of Serbia. Independent film centre “Filmart” will be presented through 2 projects: International student film camp “Interaction” and “Photodocuments 02”.


In addition to a printed edition, MANEK is also published in an electronic (pdf) form that can be downloaded for free here.

INTERACTION FOR THE SECOND TIME ON TREZOR


On 31 January 2013, TV programme “INTERACTION ON TREZOR – THE SECOND TIME”, dedicated to the importance of a camp, was broadcast on Thursday on the second channel of Radio Television Serbia at 1.10pm and reran at 1.36am.

Organizers, volunteers and representatives of a local community spoke about the significance of the camp: Predrag Zivkovic, Executive producer; Slađana Petrovic Varagic, Camp coordinator; Dejan Petrovic, Director of Independent film centre “Filmart”; Margita Vajovic, Camp volunteer; Milovan Micovic, Mayor of Pozega (one of general sponsors of the camp) and Gordana Stevic, Director of Pozega Public library (partner institution).

Also, former participants spoke about the importance of the camp: Serge Bordeleau (Canada), James Andrew-Barrett (Great Britain), Vojin Vasovic (Serbia), Juste Zavisaite (Lithuania) and Sergey Khokhryakov (Russia).


Four documentary films that were shot during the previous years of the camp were broadcast in the second part of the programme:

    - Helium - director: Giuseppe Schettino (Itаly)
    - Knot - director: Darko Sokovic (Serbia)
    - Coffee and cigarettes - director: Marcin Filipowicz (Poland)
    - No one cares - director: Wolfram Huke (Germany)

The programme was also broadcast on RTS SAT on the same day at 1.05pm.

INTERACTION ON TREZOR


The rerun of „INTERACTION ON TREZOR“, premiered in December last year, was on the second channel of Radio Television of Serbia (at 1pm and 1.35am) on Wednesday, 30 January 2013.

This TV programme is dedicated to a seven-year realization of International student film camp „Interaction“. Dejan Petrovic, Director of IFC „Filmart“ and a professor MA Dragan Elcic, Directing supervisor, spoke about the camp.

Two documentary films shot during “Interaction“ were also broadcast – „Inside the circle“ (Atefeh Khademolreza) and „Back portrait“ (Vojin Vasovic).

INTERACTION ON „TREZOR”


TV programme „Trezor“, dedicated to a seven-year realization of International Student Film Camp „Interaction, was filmed on Wednesday, 5 December 2012 in the studio of Department for TV directing „Sava Mrmak“ at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade.

 

     

Dejan Petrovic as a general manager of IFC „Filmart“ and a directing supervisor, MA professor Dragan Elcic spoke about the camp. Two documentary films shot during the camp will be screened in the the programme- „Inside the circle“ (Atefeh Khademolreza) and “Back portrait” (Vojin Vasovic).

 

The TV programme was premiered on Thursday, 13 December 2012 at 1pm on RTS second channel, as well as on RTS SAT (a satellite programme). The re-run of a programme was on RTS second channel at the same day after midnight.

 

This TV programme marks the beginning of the series that will portray Interaction within “Trezor”.

INTERACTION AT CULTURAL CENTRE „STUDENTSKI GRAD“


The programme of selected films shot during the sixth and the seventh International Student Film Camp „Interaction“ was screened on Thursday, 22 November 2012 at 7pm at the Cultural centre „Studentski grad“ in Belgrade.

The following documentary films were screened: Endless rhythm (Shady Ishak), Two four five (Adina Istrate), Buro (Jakub Paczek), Coffee and cigarettes (Marcin Filipovic), My lips your nose (Olga Korotkaja) and Bitter joke (Roozbeh Kafi).

 

     

After film screenings, a discussion was held and some of the participants were: Anja Jelić, a student of film production at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and also a former participant of the camp, Nenad Pirnat, a film editor and former camp participant, MA Dragan Elcic, a director, camp supervisor and professor at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, and Dejan Petrovic, a general manager of Independent Film Centre „Filmart“.

 

Igor M. Toholj, a film programme editor of Cultural centre „Studentski grad“, held an interesting discussion with these guests.

INTERACTION AT THE FESTIVAL “PRVI KADAR” IN EAST SARAJEVO


Films “Buro“ and „Two – four – five“, shot during the 7th ISFC “Interaction”, were screened at the 6th International documentary and short film festival ”Prvi kadar” held from 29 to 31 October 2012 in East Sarajevo.

At the beginning of the 6th International documentary and short film festival” PRVI KADAR”, a film “Buro” by Jakub Paczek was screened in the programme “In focus” on Monday, 29 October 2012. During the festival and in the programme „Quest“, a film “Two-four-five” by Adina Istrate was screened on Wednesday 31 October.

 

 

The films shot over the past seven years at the camp were screened on Tuesday, 30 October. Within a programme “INTERACTION AT THE FESTIVAL“PRVI KADAR”, the audience had an opportunity to see seven films from the camp: INSIDE THE CIRCLE (Atefeh Khademolreza), KNOT (Darko Soković), HELIUM (Giuseppe Schettino), BACK PORTRAIT (Vojin VasoviĆ) NOBODY GIVES A DAMN (Wolfram Huke), BITTER JOKE (Roozbeh Kafi), MY LIPS YOUR NOSE (Olga Korotkaya).

 

At the closing ceremony, the organizers of the festival awarded “Stećak kneza Pavla” to the camp representatives Sladjana Petrovic Varagic (a programme coordinator) and Dejan Petrovic (a general manager).

THE CAMP „INTERACTION“ RECEIVED TWO AWARDS AT THE 17TH INTERNATIONAL MEDIA AND REPORTAGE FESTIVAL “INTERFER”, HELD IN APATIN


On Sunday, 14 October 2012, the Independent film centre “Filmart” received two awards at the closing night of the 17th International media and reportage festival - INTERFER.

 

The jury, consisted of Branislav Dzunov, Pero Zubac, Miroslav Lazanski, Nino Kusturica and Tamara Popov, awarded “Golden NIKE” to Roozbeh Kafi for a film “Bitter joke” that was shot in Pozega during this year’s International student film camp “Interaction”.

Also, based on the jury’s decision, “Golden NIKE” was awarded to an organizer of the camp “Interaction” – Independent film centre “Filmart” for a special contribution to the affirmation of documentary films. Dejan Petrovic received the awards on behalf of afilm director of ”Bitter joke” and “Filmart”.




Apart from “Bitter joke”, a film by Adina Istrate “Two-four-five” was screened in a competitive programme of INTERFER. Also, the audience had a chance to see a selection of films shot during a seven-year camp realization.

For 17 years, a festival INTERFER has gathered the authors from the country and abroad that deal with a documentary form and that compete for awards and recognitions in 5 categories (television, journalistic, radio, photo and commercial reportage).

THIS YEAR’S FILMS SCREENED IN CACAK


The films shot during the 7th International student film camp ”Interaction 2012” were screened on Wednesday, 10 October 2012 at the Cultural centre in Cacak. Predrag Zivkovic (an executive producer) and Dejan Petrovic (a general manager of IFC) addressed the audience and afterwards delivered letters of thanks to the individuals and institutions that contributed to the realization of this year’s camp.

During the evening, the following films were screened: „Bitter joke“ ( Roozbeh Kafi), „Two – four – five“ (Adina Istrate), „Buro“ ( Jakub Paczek) and „My lips, your nose“ (Olga Korotkaya).

FILM PREMIERE IN POZEGA


There was the premiere of the films made during this year’s “Interaction” on Thursday, 23 August which announced the end of stage 2 of 7th International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2012”.

The audience at the Pozega Cultural Centre saw “Two - Four - Five”, “My lips, Your nose”, “Buro” and “Bitter Joke”.

THE EXHIBITION ''ARRIVALS/DEPARTURES'' MARKED THE BEGINNING OF THE 7TH INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM CAMP ''INTERACTION 2012''


The exhibition “Arrivals/Departures” presented on Tuesday 7th August 2012 at Art Gallery in Pozega, marked the beginning of the 7th International Student Film Camp “Interaction 2012” that will end on 25 August.

 

Dejan Petrovic, a general manager of the Independent Film centre “Filmart” addressed the audience in a packed art gallery in Pozega; On behalf of the organizers, he welcomed the guests, announced the beginning of Interaction and presented the participants of the camp: “We are pleased to have initiated a project that manages to survive and consolidate itself on the domestic and international scene, thanks to a strong network of sponsors and partners from public, business and non-governmental sectors”, Petrovic pointed out and added that Interaction has hosted 144 participants from 40 countries so far.

General sponsors of the camp are the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society, the municipality of Pozega, GIZ and Erste bank. On behalf of the sponsors, Milovan Micovic, the president of the municipality of Pozega, welcomed the participants, emphasized the significance of Interaction and added: “Once again, we are proud to be the hosts of Interaction. What we saw in Interaction was an original idea and concept, which in the best possible way sends a positive image about our country and our municipality and represents our cultural and touristic potentials”.

 

During the camp, 20 students of film academies from 15 countries (Iran, Pland, Russia, Romania, Great Britain, France, Israel, Egypt, China, Slovakia, India, Philippines, USA, Macedonia and Serbia) are going to shoot 4 documentary films on the territories of Uzice, Kosjeric, Cacak and Pozega. Interaction’s theme is Arrivals/ Departures.

 

The exhibition „Arrivals / Departures“, opened at Art Gallery in Pozega, presented the work of 9 younger artists from the towns and municipalities that are part of the project “Interaction“ (Katarina Alempijevic, Milan Antonijevic, Aleksandar Dimitrijevic, Milica Djordjevic, Elena Kostic, Slobodanka Milosevic, Vojislav Nedeljkovic, Uros Pavlovic i Lela Tomasevic). On opening of the exhibition, an art historian Slađana Petrović Varagić pointed out that from the very beginning, “Interaction“ doesn’t only include the production of documentaries but it is a big manifestation that incorporates film, music, fine arts and various other programmes. “This exhibition establishes the synergy between film and fine arts, and it also represents an unbreakable contact network of young film creators from around the world with our local artists'', added Petrovic Varagic.

Along with the film production, other activities, besides the exhibition, are going to be organized: film screenings, presentations of the countries that have participants at the camp, concerts, workshops, daily trips, parties and sports activities. A seven day International Documentary Masterclass “INTERdoc 2012” is going to be organized along with the film editing. The lecturers of this year’s Masterclass are renowned directors of documentary film Zelimir Zilnik and MA Dragan Elcic.

 

Film screenings will be premiered on 23 August at Pozega Cultural Centre and the following day at the Movie theatre of Belgrade Cultural Centre.

POZEGA - A GATHERING PLACE FOR STUDENTS OF FILM ACADEMIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD


Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society, the municipality of Pozega, Erste bank and GIZ, the Independent Film Centre „Filmart“ is going to organize the 7th International Student Film camp “Interaction 2012” from 7th to 25th August 2012.

 

There were 124 applications from 37 countries for participating at this year’s camp. The selection commission considered the applications and chose the best 20 to participate at Interaction.

 

Within the first week of the Camp, 20 participants - students of film academies from 15 countries (Iran, Poland, Russia, Romania, Great Britain, France, Israel, Egypt, China, Slovakia, India, Philippines, USA, Macedonia and Serbia) are going to make four documentaries in Cacak, Uzice, Kosjeric and Pozega on the theme Arrivals / Departures. The students are to be divided into four crews. Upon completion of the shooting, all participants are going to stay in Pozega for 10 days where they will edit the material for their films.

 

International Documentary Masterclass “INTERdoc 2012” is going to be organized at the same time as film editing. It will gather together participants from Singapore, Italy, USA, Russia, Finland and Ecuador. Masterclass endeavours to offer new possibilities for gaining practical and theoretical knowledge of the young film makers in the field of Creative documentary film. The lecturers of this year’s Masterclass will be eminent professors and directors of documentary films – Zelimir Zilnik and MA Dragan Elcic.

 

In the evenings, the accompanying programmes will be organized for the participants but also for wider audience. Within the programme “INTERface”, the participants of the Camp and Masterclass will present the culture of their countries, whereas the programme “INTERscreen” presents the screenings of students’ films as well as films of prominent authors. Within the programme “INTERscreen”, the films of the participants will be screened together with the CILECT PRIZE 2011 – awarded film selection by International Association of Film and Television Schools. Selected by Dunja Kusturica, the films that participated at the competative programme of Kustendorf will be screened within the programme “INTERscreen”. In addition to students’ films, the visitors of “INTERscreen” will have a chance to see a film “Old school of Capitalism” by Zelimir Zilnik.

 

In their free time, the participants will visit Drvengrad (Timber town), the open air museum “Staro selo” (the Old Village - Sirogojno), the monasteries of Ovcar-Kablar gorge and they will cruise the river Morava. Within the accompanying programme of the Camp and organized by Forca, the band “Kanda, Kodza i Nebojsa” as well as several local bands will perform at the music festival “Centrala’’.

 

Films made during the Camp will have their premiere on 23 August at the Cultural Centre of Pozega, and the following day at the Cultural Centre of Belgrade, Movie Theatre.

On Tuesday 24th April 2012, the projects of Filmart were presented to the students of Academy of Arts in Novi Sad as well as at the Faculty of Management in Sremski Karlovci.


On Tuesday 24th April 2012 at twelve o'clock, at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Dejan Petrovic, a general manager of Filmart, presented International Student Film Camp ''Interaction'' as well as International Documentary Masterclass ''Interdoc''.

At three o'clock, after the presentation of the projects at the Academy of Arts, the camp and Masterclass programme were presented to the students of Faculty of Management.

The students became acquainted with the activities and goals of the camp and Masterclass programme, and the conditions for competition participation were introduced as well.

''Endless rhythm'', (director: Shady Ishak), a documentary film made during the
6th International Student Film camp'' INTERaction''
, will be screened within the main programme of the 13th International Student Film Festival in Belgrade.

 

The main programme of the festival will include film screenings of the students from the prestigious European and world academies. The selection committee of the festival received 200 films and chose 40 that the audience will have the opportunity to see from 15th to 18th March 2012.

 

The film "Endless rhythm" will be screened at the Museum of Yugoslav Film Archive at 7 p.m. on Friday, 16 March, 2012.

CALL FOR SUBMISSION

7th International Student Film Camp "INTERaction 2012" organized by the Independent Film Centre "Filmart" is going to be held from 7th to 25th August 2012 in Pozega (Serbia). 20 students of film production, directing, cinematography, sound design and editing from all over the world, divided into 4 crews, are going to make 4 documentaries on the theme "Arrivals / Departures".

 

The organizer provides:

  • board and lodging for the participant
  • equipment and materials for film production (mini DV format)
  • transport Belgrade - Pozega - Belgrade

 

Student / participant pays for:

  • getting a visa (if they need one to enter Serbia)
  • transport (to Belgrade and back)
  • international travel health insurance

 

Competition eligibility

application will be taken into consideration if you:

  • study film production, directing, cinematography, sound design or editing
  • have taken part in production of at least one documentary film
  • speak English fluently
  • complete and submit the online application form
  • upload a film (participated in its production during your studies) on some of the online services (youtube, vimeo) and place the link in your online application form

 

Applying for the competition

To apply for this competition you should complete and submit the online application form. The film should be uploaded on some of the online services (youtube, vimeo) and its link should be visible in the online application form.

 

The film must be:

  • documentary or short feature film
  • translated into English
  • made during your studies

Selection of the candidates
